Our Emerging Church
We Value the Wider Church
As the toes lift and the back arches, the arms slowly unfold. An offering is made to God. The vision is breathtaking. The divine reveals itself in the ordinary; the holy becomes visible. Worshipers turn and embrace, inspired by the sacred moment.
The dance troupe, On Angels Wings, performs on the opening night of General Assembly. With the steps and spirit in rhythm, the dancers grace us with their moves.
The Presbyterian Church (USA) is an ensemble. From our richly diverse heritage to our multi-ethnic ministry to our nationwide network of congregations, we have many parts.
Yet, we are one body, coordinated to do mission together, animated by a common spirit. At our best the movement is in sync and fluid, for we aspire to dance like the angels.
The challenge for the Church is always one of grace, how to harmonize the moving of the Body of Christ with the flowing of the Holy Spirit.
For Presbyterians, the rhythm develops from three spiritual practices: confessing, creating, and connecting.
