What Missional Means

We are a community in Southern California learning to follow Jesus.

Over 21,000 of us in 58 locations gather weekly to practice the ancient-future rhythm of worship and mission. Worshiping God flows into loving others which ebbs back into worship.

A popular term for this wave-effect is “missional.” It means crossing the street after Bible Study to bring a hot meal to your neighbor who just got laid-off, or crossing the ocean with your prayer circle to embrace a child suffering from HIV. Becoming missional means that just as Christ sent his first disciples into the world, he sends us.

It's daring and countercultural and creative – what big-wave surfers call “pushing it.”
